REXDALE, Ont. - After a slow start, the Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team (11-3, 3-2 OCAA) battled back to take their first lead in the fourth quarter but faltered down the stretch, suffering an 81-78 loss to Humber in the 120th edition of The Game. 

"You have to make free throws and big shots in big games, especially down the stretch. We didn't, they did," head coach Jim Flack said.

The two sides came into the night averaging a combined 222.3 points per game, but both struggled to convert with neither side hitting more than 34 per cent of their attempts from the floor. Ultimately Humber was slightly more efficient from the free throw line (.700 - .667) and hit five more 3-pointers (11-6) to make up the difference. 

A 3-ball from Jemol Edwards with 8:37 remaining gave the Bruins a 56-53 advantage, but a 7-0 personal run from Humber's Kevin Otoo gave the home side a lead they would not relinquish. 

Nick Campbell led the Double Blue with 30 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, while Khaleek Bakare-Whyte (16) and Edwards (12) were both in double figures. In the first meeting between the two rivals since Samson Downey took over as Humber's head coach, Flack had nothing but praise for his counterpart. 

"Samson is going to have a great career," he said. "It's not easy in that gym - there are a lot of big shadows. To win your first Sheirdan-Humber game, that's a very big deal." 

For a second straight game it was a raucous crowd the Double Blue faced and Flack is hoping that when they are back on home court, Bruins' fans can return the favour. 

"That's two sold out road games in a row, so we're attracting big crowds," he said. "I hope the people in the city of Brampton and Sheridan students and staff step up to turn our place into a tough road environment too."

Blue notes: Sheridan will wrap up a three-game road on Nov. 10 with a trip across the Region of Peel to UTM.
