MONTREAL, Que. - The Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team (4-1) went unbeaten in four games - including a thrilling 101-98 double overtime win over George Brown in the championship game - to claim the 42nd annual Dawson Fall Classic.

"It's a great and historical event in the landscape of Canadian basketball," head coach Jim Flack said. "We all use it as a tune-up, but just the same when you make the final, you want to win."

The Bruins played the opening game of the tournament and came away with an emphatic 119-69 victory over John Abbott. As lopsided as their first contest was, the remainder of their games would be much closer, as Sheridan won their next three by a total of nine points - earning a trio of three-point victories.

First was a 78-75 victory over 2018 RSEQ runners-up Brebeuf before the Double Blue closed out pool play with an 88-85 victory over Montmorency, winners of the Quebec conference the last three seasons.

That set up the title clash against George Brown, who beat Dawson (84-49), Vanier (92-88), and Champlain St. Lambert (80-56) to also post a 3-0 record in pool play.

The Huskies led 40-35 at the break, but the two sides were level at 81-81 after 40 minutes of play. A high-scoring overtime period saw both teams score 12 and a second session was needed to ultimately break the deadlock.

Sheridan will host an immediate re-match when the two square off in the opening contest of the Wayne Allison Fall Showdown on Oct. 12 (10am).
