LONDON, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team (26-6, 16-4 OCAA) closed out the regular season in winning fashion, grinding out an 85-82 decision over Fanshawe in a hard-fought, playoff-style contest. 

"It was an entertaining game, a great contest for the fans and players," head coach Jim Flack said. "Tony's guys are always so tough and fundamentally sound, you can never truly relax. They're going to be a very tough out in the post-season."

The Bruins led 22-17 after one and stretched their advantage as high as 12 in the second quarter, but saw Fanshawe narrow the margin to four (48-44) at the break.

The second half was a tight battle, featuring six ties and six lead changes. A Sean Clendinning 3-pointer with 3:37 remaining in the fourth quarter gave the home side a five-point edge (76-71) but an 8-0 Sheridan run - punctuated by a pair of triples on back-to-back possessions by Nav Deol and Nick Campbell - gave the Double Blue an advantage (79-76) they would not relinquish. 

Campbell (25) and Deol (23) paced the Bruin attack, while Jayvon Grant-Lake was also in double figures with 11 points.

With the combination of a Humber loss at Redeemer, the Bruins locked into second place in the OCAA West and will host the Georgian Grizzlies (10-10) on Feb. 25 (4pm) in an OCAA Championship qualifier. 

The two sides played during the Wayne Allison Fall Showdown in October, with Sheridan prevailing 123-62.
