Men's basketball post pair of wins, loss on Montreal trip

MONTREAL, Que. - The Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team (2-1) kicked off their 2017-18 campaign at the annual Dawson tournament, picking up a pair of wins before suffering a setback in a re-match of the 2017 national championship game.

"The effort this weekend was great, but we still have a lot of work to do in order to get where we want to be," head coach Jim Flack said.

The Double-Blue opened with a 105-71 victory over John Abbott and followed that up with a 98-92 triumph over Brebeuf.

That set up a showdown against Montmorency - who edged Sheridan for the national title last season - for a spot in Sunday's final, with the Bruins dropping an 87-75 decision.

The club will have their final tune-up before the regular season, hosting the Wayne Allison Fall Showdown Oct. 13-14.
