Choliy, Owusu and Periana named OCAA All-Stars

SCARBOROUGH, Ont. - After playing key roles in leading the Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team (31-3, 16-0 OCAA) to a second straight OCAA West Division title and the first undefeated regular season in team history, Ostap Choliy, Brian Owusu and Dylan Periana were named OCAA All-Stars. 

Choliy was fourth in the OCAA in scoring, leading the Double-Blue with 20.6 points per game, while also chipping in with 6.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.6 steals per game.

He connected on 58 three-pointers - sitting fifth in the conference at 43.3 per cent from deep - tied for the second highest single season total and just six behind Khalid Abdel-Gabar's team record of 64. 

Owusu was named an OCAA All-Star for a second straight season, averaging 16.4 points per game while shooting 44.1 per cent from the floor, 39.8 per cent from three and 77.1 from the charity stripe. 

Periana was also named an All-Star for a second straight year, with a line of 14.4 points, 4.4 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game. 

Head coach Jim Flack was named the OCAA West Coach of the Year, the 11th time he's been named an OCAA Coach of the Year. 

The Bruins will open up OCAA Championship play with a quarter-final match-up against West division foes Redeemer at 1pm on March 2.
