Men's basketball earn runner-up finish at Dawson tournament

MONTREAL, Que. -- The Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team (4-2) travelled to Montreal for the Dawson College Tournament and came away with a record of 3-2.

The first game saw the Bruins spot the Montmorency Nomades a 22 point lead, and with only seven minutes to play, the double-blue trailed by 20.

An urgent response saw the Bruins actually take a lead with 34 seconds to play.

However, the Nomades made a shot with 2.9 seconds to go and took the one-point win.

Game two went the Bruins way, and they eventually blew the John Abbot squad out of the gym with a 27-point margin.

Game three versus Brebeuf College was more of the same.

The Bruins stormed out into a double-digit lead and closed out the game winning by 23. Game four, is always difficult tilt against the home team Dawson Blues but the Bruins stormed out to a big lead and never looked back, claiming a spot in the final by winning 95-60.

In the final, the Bruins once again met the Montmorency Nomades, but had to settle for silver as the team from Quebec broke a tie with a 6-0 run to end the game, claiming gold over Sheridan, 76-70.
