Bruins Softball Team Announce Seven Exciting Commitments

Mississauga, Ontario - Sheridan Bruins head softball coach Emily E. Stea has committed seven new recruits to the roster for the 2023-24 season after a successful showcase held this past spring.

These seven future Bruins hail from Southern Ontario, with the exception of Anaka Brawn, who made her commitment from Dubai, UAE. The first two to commit were Kiersten Raso (Brampton) and Jaelan Taylor (Windsor), followed by Hailey Everett (Bracebridge), Kaitlyn Leigh (St. Catharines), Brianne Cruz (Caledon), Harley Normore (Cambridge), and Anaka Brawn (Dubai, UAE).

Coach Stea said of her first two recruits, "Kiersten, a Brampton local, will be bringing us power at the plate. She has already hit 3 out of the park home runs for her club team. She has the ability to play both infield and outfield, giving us options for where she will be playing on the field", and "Jaelan can track a ball like no one I have ever seen. She can pitch, hit for power, and is incredibly fast on the bases".

Coach Stea was hired after the recruitment window going into their inaugural year; as such, the Bruins had a rough start finishing this past 2022-23 season with a 6-18 record. However, Stea's strong recruitment efforts have the team looking strong for their upcoming season.

"We are excited to be adding seven amazing athletes to our roster. The seven bring us depth on the mound, power at the plate, and speed on the bases. They are all powerful players on their respective club teams, and we can't wait to see what they accomplish in the OCAA," said Stea. "We are building a positive culture and team environment for these athletes to thrive. We know these seven will do great things and help pave the way for future Bruins!"
