Cross Country set to open season at Fanshawe Invitational

OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins cross country teams will open the 2018 season this weekend with a trip to London for the Fanshawe Invitational.

"Even though it's very early, there's a really good field for this event, so it's an opportunity for us to see where we're at and see what we still need to work on," head coach Danny Webster said. "We will still take a big picture approach as we look to use all of our pre-championship races as building blocks."

The men's team has a strong core returning from last year's bronze medal performance, with four of the six OCAA Championship runners - Cole Bond, Alex Ball, Andrew Convery, and Matt Reeve - back this season.

Meanwhile, the women will return five of six Championship runners - Erin Kinninmont, Marla Brown, Monique Parlevliet, Lexy Pakenham-Troth, and Daniela Casas - as they look to build on last year's seventh place Ontario finish.

After this weekend, the team will still have three tune-up races - Fleming (Sept. 22), Centennial (Oct. 13), and Brock (Oct. 20) - before the OCAA Championship, hosted by Centennial on Oct. 27.
