Women's volleyball swept on southwestern swing to cap first half

WINDSOR, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's volleyball team (9-7, 4-5 OCAA) wrapped up the first half of their season with a pair of losses after being swept by Fanshawe (3-0) and St. Clair (3-0) in a weekend swing through Southwestern Ontario.

The Bruins struggled to get in system against Fanshawe and had more errors (23) than kills (19), while spotting the No. 5 team in the country a 52-33 advantage in total offence. The Falcons won with set scores of 25-17, 25-21, and 25-17.

Tara Aune led the Bruins with 11 points on seven kills, three aces, and one block, while Tamia Cooper-Evelyn posted double digit digs (11) for the third time this season.

Playing again in a little more than 16 hours later with a two hour trip down the 401 in between, the Bruins were slow out of the gates, as St. Clair claimed the first two sets 25-19 and 25-13. Sheridan picked it up in the third, but it still wasn't enough, being closed out 26-24.

The Double Blue will now turn their attention to having a strong academic finish before re-grouping prior to the January re-start. They will resume OCAA West play with the same four opponents that comprised their current four-match losing streak.
