OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's volleyball team (9-4, 4-2 OCAA) battled back to make it a first set toss-up, but couldn't match that level for the remainder of the match and suffered a 3-0 (26-24, 25-16, 25-13) loss to Humber.
"We started the first set a little timid and dug ourselves a hole, but started to play really well and were able to come back," head coach Scott Hunt said. "Unfortunately a couple points didn't go our way at the end of the set but the first could have gone either way. After that we made far too many errors to compete with them, especially with our attacking."
Humber built an early 11-7 lead in the opening frame and were on the verge of closing out up 24-21, but the Bruins rallied to level the set at 24-24. Unfortunately they dropped the next two points and the set, 26-24.
It proved to be a costly swing as the momentum swung away from a deflated Sheridan side and they never fully recovered. Humber started each of the second and third sets with 5-0 runs and put the Double Blue into holes they were unable to dig out of.
The visitors held a 47-39 advantage in total offence, but the Bruins made 12 more attack errors (19-7) than their counterparts. Tamia Cooper-Evelyn led the way with eight kills and eight digs.
Sheridan will wrap up a four-match home stand when they host Niagara on Nov. 25 (1pm).
