Women's volleyball set for regular season after sweeping Wannamaker Invitational

OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's volleyball team (5-1) closed out their pre-season schedule with a clean sweep of the Wannamaker Invitational, posting wins over Conestoga, Canadore, Cambrian, and Seneca.

"This tournament was a great opportunity for us to prepare for our regular season," head coach Scott Hunt said. "We were able to experiment with different lineups and strategies throughout the weekend."

The Double Blue opened the tournament on Saturday morning with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-22) win over Conestoga, and wrapped up day one with a 3-0 triumph over Canadore (25-19, 25-22, 25-17).

Sheridan faced a daunting task on day two - closing out the tournament with back-to-back matches - but got stronger as the day went on, downing Cambrian 3-1 (26-24, 26-24, 24-26, 25-15) and Seneca 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-5).

They will begin OCAA West play on Oct. 20 with a trip down the QEW to play Mohawk.

"I'm excited to get started next weekend," he said. "Playing Mohawk on the road will be a good test for us to see where we're at."
