Women's rugby ensures tie-breaker with win on second OCAA match day

CAMBRIDGE, Ont. - On the second match day of the OCAA season, the Sheridan Bruins women's rugby team (2-4 OCAA) posted a straight-straight 1-2 record, but their lone victory could prove critical as it ensures they will hold a tie-breaker over Conestoga by season's end.

Sheridan opened the day with that triumph (34-10) over the hosts from Conestoga, establishing a new team-record for most points in a game since switching to the sevens format in 2016 in the process.

Although they dropped their remaining games against Humber (24-0) and Seneca (28-10) - the two sides that squared off for the OCAA title last year- they were much more competitive than the week prior.

They enter the first bye week of the season and now have two weeks to prepare for their busiest stretch of the season when they travel to Fleming on Oct. 13 and 14 for East-West crossover play.

Sheridan will play twice on the opening day - against Durham and Loyalist - and will close out the weekend against St. Lawrence, Algonquin, and the hosts from Fleming.
