Women's rugby set for season opener on home turf

OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's rugby team will kick off their 2018 campaign tomorrow, with a trio of West Divisional games.

"We've had a solid couple weeks of practice, and I think we're ready to go," head coach Tamara Dixon said. "We have a strong group of returning players and our rookies bring a lot to the table. Now, it's just a matter of putting it all together."

The core group consists of four players who are in their third season, and two of whom - Carah Hager and Candice Low Kum - were OCAA All-Stars in previous seasons.

In the new East/West Divisional format, the Bruins will play West Divisional foes Humber, Conestoga, and Seneca a total of three times with competitions hosted by Sheridan (Sept. 22), Conestoga (Sept. 29), and Seneca (Oct. 20), and will play a crossover weekend against the five East Division schools on Oct. 13 and 14 at Fleming.

For the opening weekend, they will begin against Humber (10am), then take on Conestoga (12:30pm), before closing out the day against the reigning OCAA Champions from Seneca (2:30pm).
