Women's rugby win one, drop two at Fleming

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's rugby team (4-8-1 OCAA) opened the penultimate OCAA women's rugby match day with a win over Mohawk, but couldn't maintain the momentum, dropping a pair to Fleming and St. Lawrence.

The Double-Blue swept their season series with Mohawk on the strength of a 12-5 scoreline.

They were blanked 19-0 by the hosts from Fleming, and were in a tightly battle with St. Lawrence - down 14-12 in the second half - before conceding another score that provided a 21-12 final.

Sheridan will need a big performance in the final match day of the regular season on Oct. 22 in order to find themselves amongst the championship participants.

Fortunately, they host the final game day and thus will play for their post-season lives on home turf, with contests against Humber, Loyalist, and Conestoga.

The top six teams will advance to the OCAA Championship Nov. 4 at Fleming.
