BRAMPTON, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's basketball team (12-4, 7-2 OCAA) held Mohawk to five first-quarter points and never looked back in an 85-44 wire-to-wire victory over Mohawk.
"I think the girls executed our defence with great discipline tonight and forced a lot of turnovers which is what we were trying to accomplish," head coach Sean Douglas said. "We also shot a lot better than usual from the 3-point line which helps. But going forward we are going to need to shoot a better percentage at home as a team to warrant the amount of jump shots we take."
Sheridan limited Mohawk to single digit point toals in each of the first two quarters - five in the first, eight in the second - while forcing 21 first half turnovers. The visitors were just 5-26 (.192 FG pct) in the opening half, as the Bruins led 43-13 at the break.
Mohawk improved their shooting (.361) and their ball control (10 turnovers) in the second half, but the Double Blue still too far in front.
Courtni Martin scored a career-high 23 points while dishing out seven assists, collecting six steals, and hauling down five rebounds. Sydney Charvis celebrated her birthday with 22 points and closed out a strong month, averaging 20.3 points, 4.3 boards, and 3 steals in November.
