REXDALE, Ont. - What was a one-possession game heading into the fourth quarter became a 15-point defeat, as the Sheridan Bruins women's basketball team (9-3, 4-1 OCAA) could only muster eight points in the fourth quarter of a 71-56 loss. 

"I think we played hard for 40 minutes, but we didn't always play smart," head coach Sean Douglas said. "Shooting a poor percentage from the field and some really bad unforced turnovers gave us little chance to chip away at their lead. When you come into a hostile environment like the Humber College gym, getting good performances is just as important as the game plan you come on with. We'll work on a few things and prepare ourselves for UTM on the weekend."

A major difference came from behind the arc, where the Bruins were just 2-17, while Humber was 9-30. The home side also had a 61-47 advantage on the glass, although their 20-14 offensive rebound edge did not result in more second chance points, with both teams scoring seven when given an additional opportunity at the offensive end. 

Humber held a narrow 18-16 edge after one, but they were able to stretch that out to nine (35-26) at the break. The lead swelled to 10 midway through the third (45-35) but a 13-4 Sheridan run made it a one-point game (49-48) with 1:21 left in the frame. That would be as close as they would get, however, as Humber methodically built up an insurmountable lead in the final period. 

Theresa Brown scored a team-high 18 points, while Sydney Charvis (10) and Tamya Rowe (10) were also in double figures. 

The Double Blue will wrap up their three-game road swing with a trip to UTM on Nov. 10.
