Women's basketball sweeps weekend set against Sault

BRAMPTON, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's basketball team (8-2, 3-0 OCAA) won a pair of games against Sault on back-to-back days, wrapping up a mini three-game homestand with a trio of victories.

In the first game, the Bruins held Sault to 17.6 per cent shooting from the floor and single digit scoring in each of the first three quarters, while forcing 30 turnovers on their way to an 82-31 win. Tamya Rowe had a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards, while three other Bruins - Courtini Martin, 17, Theresa Brown, 14, and Lianna Rose Villegas, 10 - were all in double figures.

The score was nearly identical in the second, with Sheridan scoring 34 points off 32 Sault turnovers, to claim an 80-38 decision. Brown scored 25 points on 12 of 23 shooting in just 16 minutes, while Sydney Charvis filled up the stats sheet with 20 points, four rebounds, four assists, four steals, and a block.

The Double Blue will hit play their first away conference games when they travel to Redeemer on Nov. 2, and will remain on the road, though close to home, for a pair after that, with trips to Humber (Nov. 7) and UTM (Nov. 10).
