Women's basketball seeks assistant coaches

Sheridan Athletics and Recreation is currently seeking a Women's Varsity Basketball Assistant Coach, reporting directly to the Head Coach and Varsity Sport Coordinator. The Assistant Coach will support the development, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum to best prepare the student athletes for success within the Ontario College Athletic Association and Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association. There are two (2) Assistant Coach positions to be filled.

KEY DUTIES



The majority of key duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Coach will include but not be limited to:

• Identify and actively recruit student athletes to appropriate Sheridan academic programs.
• Develop and maintain an active recruiting plan considering current and future needs.
• Prepare offensive and defensive strategies to maximize Sheridan's strengths and to effectively counter opponent strategies.
• Contribute to the creation of game and practice planning for the upcoming schedule.
• Establish and maintain an effective communication system with athletics administration, facility staff, fellow coaches and student athletes.
• Support student athletes for their academic and athletic performance while buying into the Sheridan Athletics mantra – Study. Compete. Graduate. Succeed.
• Abide by all Sheridan and OCAA guidelines.
• Contribute to and help execute a senior women's high school basketball tournament, to profile both Sheridan College and the varsity basketball program.

QUALIFICATIONS

It is preferred for the coach to have completed some certifications through the National Coaching Certification Program (level 1 or higher) along with coaching experience at a college, high school or elite level club.

The varsity basketball programs operate out of the Brampton (Davis) campus of Sheridan College but involves student athletes from all Sheridan campuses.

Exhibition games, tournaments and league games will occur around the province and the assistant coach must be prepared to travel on weeknights and overnight on weekends with the team.

Compensation will be in accordance with the College Payroll Grid (September – March)
