BRAMPTON, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's basketball team (10-12, 8-8 OCAA) struggled to put together a complete 40-minute performance at both ends of the floor, suffering a 68-64 defeat to Redeemer. 

"Other than maybe the first five minutes of the game we couldn't maintain our level in all phases of the game," head coach Willie Delas said. "If things were working offensively, they weren't defensively, and then just for good measure there were patches were we struggled to rebound." 

It was a fast start for the Bruins, who led 23-15 by the end of the opening frame. They pushed their lead as high as 12 early in the second quarter, but Redeemer managed to trim the margin to two, before a last-second 3-pointer from Brianna Stewart made it 37-32 at the break. 

The Double Blue struggled to find their rhythm offensively to start the second half, scoring just 10 points in the third quarter, and were on a the wrong side of a 48-47 scoreline entering the final period. 

They managed to keep game in their sights - with the Redeemer advantage never growing larger than five - but their poor second half offensive showing - 9-35 from the floor, 0-11 from 3-point range, and 9-16 from the free throw line - kept Sheridan out of the winners circle. 

Stewart scored a game-high 22 points, while Theresa Brown (15 points), Audrey Carin (10 points, 10 rebounds), and Courtni Martin (10 points) were all in double figures. 

After a busy stretch where they played four games in 10 days, the club will now get a full week to prepare for a trip to Mohawk (13-3) on Feb. 10.
