Women's basketball snap three-game slide with win over Redeemer

ANCASTER, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's basketball team (6-7, 4-5 OCAA) closed out the first half of their schedule by snapping a three-game skid, downing Redeemer 72-61. 

"We did a really good job of getting off to a good start, maintaining that forward momentum," head coach Willie Delas. "This is a good way to close out the first half, we'll keep working and see what we can do when we start our second half."

The Bruins got off to a quick start, running their lead as high as 12 in the opening quarter. They shot 52.9 per cent from the floor, as they led 22-15 after 10 minutes and 36-29 at the half.

By the end of the third quarter, the Double-Blue had seen their advantage swell to 19 - leading 60-41. 

Redeemer was able to bring the margin back to single digits, opening the final period on a 12-1 run. 

Sheridan was able to stall the momentum of the home side, and pushed their lead back into double figures.

Sydney Charvis scored a game and career-high 28 points, while chipping in with nine boards, and five assists. 

Brianna Stewart (20) and Theresa Brown (16) were both in double figures, while Audrey Carin filled the stats sheet with nine boards, five assists, and four steals.
