BRAMPTON, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's basketball team (4-4, 2-2 OCAA) won their second straight, using a 16-4 third quarter run to build a 17-point cushion, before settling into a 79-62 victory over UTM. 

"We played composed on defence and the shared the ball well on offence," head coach Willie Delas said. "We made a tactical switch in our defensive scheme in the second half and that really triggered a run for us."

It was a slow start for the Double-Blue, who held a one-point advantage, 16-15, after one. 

UTM was able to keep it as a two possesion game throughout much of the second quarter, until the Bruins closed the half on a 9-1 run, leading 38-29 at recess. 

To open the third frame, the visitors quickly chopped it back to a five-point Sheridan advantage, before a 16-4 run from the home side built a double digit advantage they would not relinquish. 

The Bruins led by as many as 21 in the fourth quarter and had enough of a cushion to hold off any runs from UTM. 

Theresa Brown equalled her career high with 22 points, while Brianna Stewart (12 points), and Audrey Carin (10 points, eight assists, eight rebounds) were also in double figures. 

"Audrey made plays all over the court and almost recorded a triple double," assistant coach Sean Douglas said. "The rest of the team stayed composed and kept the lead at the end of the game when we had a couple of key players banged up and fouled out."

They now have 10 days to prepare for a swing through southwestern Ontario, with games at Lambton (Nov. 18, 2pm) and St. Clair (Nov. 19, 1pm).
