Men's volleyball eliminated from playoffs by George Brown

TORONTO, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins men's volleyball team (8-11 OCAA) put forward a valiant effort, but were knocked out of the OCAA post-season by George Brown, suffering a 3-1 loss to the East Division runners-up.

"George Brown played great," head coach Frank Pento said. "We couldn't execute our passing and that proved to be the difference as we really struggled to sideout."

George Brown won the first two sets comfortably, claiming the opener 25-15 and the second set 25-20.

The Double Blue were able to get on the board with a 25-23 win in the third, but saw George Brown slam the door 25-17 in the fourth.

While Pento was disappointed in the abrupt end to the season, he remained positive in reflecting on the performance of his troops.

In particular, he pointed to matches that went the distance as not only the turning point in the year, but further evidence of how close they were, having lost 5-setters to nearly half of the OCAA Championship's eight-team field (Redeemer twice, Humber, and Conestoga).

"This was a roller coaster year," he said. "We just couldn't seem to find a way to put everything together and go on a run. Losing all five of our 5-set matches really took a toll on our confidence, and you can only look back and wonder what could have been had those turned out differently."
