Men's volleyball pick up critical road win against Mohawk

HAMILTON, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins men's volleyball team (6-9 OCAA) kept their playoff hopes alive with a massive 3-1 win on the road against Mohawk.

"We really struggled passing tonight which made it hard to run our offence, but we were able to fight through it and steal a win on the road," head coach Frank Pento said. "In the second set it looked like we were down and out, but our boys never gave in, fought for every point and made the comeback. This was a huge win for us, but we have more work to do if we are going to get into the playoffs. That starts on Sunday with another tough road match against Humber."

The Bruins won the first set 25-21 and looked to be on the verge of seeing Mohawk level the match in the second set - trailing 24-21 - but closed on a 6-0 run to steal the set and take a 2-0 lead.

Mohawk clipped the Double Blue in the third set 25-21, but Sheridan secured their first win of the second half with a 25-22 win in the fourth set.

A road trip to Humber (11-2) looms on Sunday, as the Bruins travel to take on a Hawks team that has reeled off 10-straight wins.
