Men's volleyball clinch playoff spot with win over Conestoga

OAKVILLE, Ont. - The scenario for the Sheridan Bruins men's volleyball team (9-9 OCAA) was as simple as it gets: win and you're in, clinching sixth place in the OCAA West and road playoff game after a 3-0 win over Conestoga.

"We had some ups and downs throughout the regular season, but I'm certainly happy to have a spot in the playoffs," head coach Frank Pento said. "This division we play in is a gauntlet and you need to bring it every night. So after going through that 18 times this season, I'm pretty confident that our guys understand what's needed to go out into a playoff atmosphere."

The Double-Blue got off to a quick start, claiming the opening set 25-18.

Conestoga began to push back late in the second, but the Bruins managed to hold them off 25-23 before closing out 25-18 in the third.

As the sixth place team out of the West, Sheridan will go on the road to take on the East's third place team, Canadore (February 18, 6pm).

The winner of that will advance to the OCAA Championship the following weekend, hosted by Mohawk.
