Men's basketball downs Mohawk for fourth straight win

BRAMPTON, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team (16-3, 7-2 OCAA) picked up a fourth straight victory, downing Mohawk 118-93.

"We're happy to get the win, but we're just not real happy with the way we played in the second half," assistant coach Dave Ferencina said. "The key is to put in a full 40-minute performance. There's too much talent in our league, so if you don't put away teams when you have the chance, it's going to catch up to you at some point."

After a back-and-forth first quarter were the lead was exchanged six times, a 20-5 Sheridan run over the final 5:14 of the second period gave the Bruins a 60-37 advantage at the break. They pushed their lead to 29 early in the third, but took their foot off the pedal. Mohawk took advantage pulled to within 13 with 6:16 remaining before the Double Blue slammed the door. 

Six Bruins were in double figures, led by Nick Campbell (28 points, nine rebounds), and followed by Jemol Edwards (22 points, five assists), Kahleek Bakari-Whyte (17 points, six assists, six steals, five rebounds), Keenan Danso-Dapaah (14 points, seven rebounds), Romar Subban (14 points), and Tremaine Anderson (10 points, 13 rebounds). 

The Double Blue will travel to Conestoga on Dec. 1. 

Blue notes: Since suffering their first defeat to Redeemer on Nov. 2, Nick Campbell has been red-hot, having scored at least 22 in all five games and averaging 26.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.6 steals per game, while shooting .546 from the floor and .414 from 3-point range.
