Men's basketball sweep weekend to close semester on 12-game win streak

BRAMPTON, Ont. -- The Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team (16-2, 7-0 OCAA) swept a weekend set against St. Clair (114-83) and Lambton (103-69) to close the first half of their schedule on a 12-game win streak.

In the early stages, St. Clair had a 10-8 led but a 17-2 Sheridan run gave the Bruins a lead they would not relinquish.

The visitors narrowed the margin to four (30-26) in second quarter, but the Double-Blue led 53-41 at the half and blew the game open in the third quarter on the strength of a 16-2 run.

Ostap Choliy scored a career high 46 and was one three-pointer shy of tying the OCAA single game record with 13, while four other Bruins hit double figures - Nick Campbell (17), Paul Williams (13), Jemol Edwards (12) and Tre Hibbert (10).

It was a similar narrative against Lambton, as a 15-2 late first quarter run gave the Bruins a 25-13 advantage they would not give up and a 20-2 run to close the third quarter gave them a 78-43 going into the final frame.

Brian Owusu (18) was one of three Bruins in double figures, along with Choliy (15) and Dylan Periana (12).

The club has a little more than three weeks off, before travelling to Buffalo for a pair of games against Genesee and Villa Maria just prior to Christmas.

Blue notes: The win against St. Clair was the 300th OCAA regular season win for head coach Jim Flack. He now has a career record of 301-81 in conference play and 652-240 overall.
