In her rookie season Sherry achieved success immediately by winning the Ontario Singles Championship Title. Entering her second year in 1989-1990 the tradition of excellence continued. After compiling a season record of 3 gold medal singles titles and two mixed double triumphs, Sherry moved on to the Ontario Championships. Once again she was victorious winning the Ontario Singles Title for the second year in a row. Hopes were high as she moved on to the Canadian Championships, and Sherry did not disappoint the Bruin faithful by finishing with a Bronze medal in singles competition.

Her impressive second year was capped off with another Sheridan Female Athlete of the Year Award, becoming the first Female athlete in school history to win the award in consecutive seasons. Sherry continued to contribute to Bruins Athletics by serving as an Assistant Coach with the Varsity Badminton Team in 1990-91.
